Emily has studied dance competitively for over 15 years. She received her elementary training from Theatre Dance Academy; Dancing Angels Academy and Quinte Ballet School. Emily’s accomplishments include: receiving the Sears Festival Choreography Award in 2009, as well as, teaching at StageCoach Theatre Arts, The Traveling Artists, Dancing Angels Academy as well as Lindsay Collegiate and Vocational Institute. Emily was also the founder and former president of the Fleming Dance Team. As a student of Trent University she has had the pleasure of working with Indigenous choreographers, such as, Daystar/Rosalie Jones and Norma Araiza, preforming in Trent University’s Anishinaabe Mannjiidwin, as well as, the Women’s Symposium. While at Trent, Emily worked as a choreographer for Theatre Director Diana Manole, on He Left Home, and Flying. Since coming to Toronto she has performed with Kaeja d’Dance and York University. Emily served as the Lighting Designer for Embers in York University’s Strong/Light, and as the Technical Director for Dr. Patrick Alcedo’s recent colloquium An Empire Stages Back: Philippine Dance.

Emily studied Choreography and Performance at York University before beginning her Master’s Degree in Dance Studies in 2015. Her physical training included Ballet, Modern, Conditioning, Improvisation, and Sub-Sharan African Dance. She also received technical training in lighting and costuming for dance. Emily is currently studying critical dance pedagogy. Emily holds her Undergraduate Degree in Psychology from Trent University and a Diploma of Business from Sir Sanford Fleming College.
